A Union man will pocket $100,000 after uncovering the top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Black Ice” Scratchers ticket. Edward Dixon, retired from the stock-car racing circuit, was excited after his big win.

“It was a surprise,” he says, after scratching off his winning ticket. “I showed it to my girlfriend, and then called my sister and my son with the news.”

Dixon purchased his winning ticket at Midwest Petroleum, 495 S. Highway 47, in Union on July 18. He says the win comes at a good time.

“My son in Ohio needs a new water system for his home. I told him not to worry about that now,” he said.

He also has some fun plans for his new fortune.

“I want to go on a vacation with my girlfriend, my sister and her husband. I’m thinking either Hawaii or the Caribbean,” Dixon shared.

"Black Ice" is a $5 ticket that offers a top prize of $100,000, two of which remain in the game, and thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $20,000.
