LEBANON WOMAN WINS $10,000 IN WHEEL SPIN

A waitress from Lebanon is $10,000 richer after a proxy spun the wheel for her during the Missouri Lottery’s 11th “Fun & Fortune” Wheel Spin event, held at 2 p.m. today in Jefferson City.  Melissa Etzel, 22, said she was unable to get off work at Senior Peppers to spin herself.  A total of $20,000 in prizes was awarded during the event.

Etzel purchased her qualifying ticket at B & D Auto Truck Plaza in Lebanon.

Three other contestants also won thousands in the wheel spin.  Diane Wallace, 34, of St. Louis (63114*) won $5,000; Fred Paxton, 74, of Warsaw won $2,500; and Paula Strodtman, 44, of Arnold won $2,500.

Wallace, who is a school bus driver, said she plans to use her prize money to pay for a new roof for her home and to pay bills.  She purchased her qualifying ticket at QuikTrip, 10793 Page Ave. in St. Louis.

Paxton, who is a retired concrete truck driver, said he isn’t sure what he will do with his prize money.  He bought his qualifying ticket at Newman’s Country Mart in Warsaw.

Strodtman, who only mailed in one entry for the drawing, said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and take a trip to Louisiana to see her relatives.  She purchased her qualifying ticket at Arnold U-Gas in Arnold.

In addition to the prize money won through the actual Wheel Spin event, the contestants also each received a check for $500 for being selected as a finalist.   To date, $180,000 in prize money to finalists has been awarded.

For a chance to win $500 and a chance to spin the wheel, players need to buy a $2 "Fun & Fortune" wheel spin Scratchers ticket.  If the ticket is a winner and the prize is "ENTRY," the ticket should be mailed to Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City to be placed in a weekly drawing.  Each week, 10 of these "ENTRY" tickets are drawn, and those winners receive $500.  In addition, one of these 10 preliminary winners will be drawn for a chance to spin the wheel and win up to $250,000.  The smallest amount a player can win in the Wheel Spin is $2,500.

More than $1 million in cash prizes has been awarded to Missouri Lottery “Fun & Fortune” wheel spin contestants during the first 11 spin events.

The "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" is open to the public.  It is also streamed on the Lottery’s Web site for players to watch from anywhere in the world.
