Celebrate Early with 'Eclipse Cash'

For the first time in 148 years, a total solar eclipse will descend upon much of the state of Missouri, and now Missouri Lottery players can celebrate early with “Eclipse Cash,” a new $5 Scratchers ticket that starts being delivered to Lottery retail locations today. The game offers a top prize of $82,117 – the same numbers as the eclipse date: 8-21-17.

“Not only is this a fun way for Missourians and the many visitors we will have to get in on the novelty of the eclipse, but I am sure this ticket will also become a collectible item to commemorate this unique event,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery.

The new game will offer players 15 chances to win prizes, ranging from $5 to $82,117, and more than 69 percent of the game’s sales will be returned as prizes.

Reardon said the Lottery also plans to celebrate the rare occurrence with a one-day Draw Games promotion on Aug. 21.

“When players buy $10 in Powerball, they will get a free $2 Show Me Cash ticket,” Reardon said. “So we’re tying in the world’s most notable game with our in-state jackpot game named after our state’s slogan. It might just be the right alignment for a big win!”
