HANKERING FOR ICE CREAM BRINGS $77,777 TO ST. LOUIS MAN

Story Photo An obsession for Brown Cow ice cream bars brought a 61-year-old St. Louis (63125*) man a $77,777 windfall.   Carol Schnieders said she and her husband, John Schnieders, had been grocery shopping at Shop N Save, 1032 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis, on April 25.  While shopping, John purchased six Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets; none were winners.  When they got home, they realize they had forgotten one of John’s favorite treats:  Pevely Dairy Brown Cow ice cream bars.

“He eats them all the time,” Carol explained.

So John headed back to the store to get the ice cream bars, and while he was there, he had a strong feeling to buy “just one more” Scratchers ticket from the “Super Lucky 7’s” game.   To his surprise, that ticket turned out to be worth $77,777.

The Schnieders say they plan to use their prize money to pay for a new roof and siding they had planned to put on their home.   Thanks to their good fortune, they now plan to get new doors and windows, too.  Carol said John, who is a maintenance worker for Warren Sign in Arnold, plans to buy a boat and motor with some of the money.

"Super Lucky 7’s," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Jan. 11.
