On June 7, Anthony Fisher thought he uncovered a $1,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery “Diamond Dollars” Scratchers ticket. After going to work and showing his boss, he learned he had actually won a top prize of $100,000.

“I went in to cash a couple tickets, and I decided to buy two more Scratchers tickets,” said the Fulton resident. “I didn’t think I’d won more than $1,000.”

Fisher headed off to work, and while he was showing his boss his winning ticket, she let him know his prize was much larger than he thought.

“She said, ‘You know you won more than $1,000? You won $100,000,’” said Fisher.

“I went home and woke up every hour to look at it and make sure it was a winner.”

Last year, Fisher won a little more than $1,000, but up until that day, it was the most he had ever won.

“I want to invest some,” said the restaurant worker. “And then I want to buy a trailer grill to sell my barbeque.”

Fisher is planning to get married next year, but his fiancée was out of town during his win. He surprised her with the good news the next day after she returned home.

Fisher purchased his winning Scratchers ticket at Break Time, 405 W. Fourth St., in Fulton. He claimed his prize on June 8 at Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City.

Diamond Dollars” is a $5 game that began Aug. 29, 2016. This game offers a bonus play area on the back and top prizes of $100,000.
