The traditional gift for a 38th anniversary isn’t money, but it’s the gift John Fisher Jr. received from his wife, Linda.

“My wife bought (tickets) for our anniversary. She bought 10 of them and put them in a card for me,” said Fisher, whose wife purchased the Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets from QuikTrip, 10845 Lilac Ave., in Bellafontaine.

Fisher explained that the couple commonly exchanges Lottery tickets as gifts. Soon after receiving his anniversary gift from his wife, Fisher realized that he had uncovered a top prize on a “Bingo Plus” ticket.

“I started shaking, and I go yelling for her. We kept kissing and hugging each other and saying ‘Happy Anniversary.’ It was great; my stomach is still all messed up,” said Fisher. “This will be a big (anniversary), especially since she was in the hospital with pneumonia last year.”

Fisher had already planned on treating his wife to a nice dinner to celebrate their anniversary, but he said that now they will be celebrating their good fortune, as well.

The couple is looking forward to paying off bills with the $55,558 prize.

“We will try to do something fun, too. We might go on a little camping vacation. I’ll let her decide,” said Fisher.

Bingo Plus” is a $3 Scratchers game that offers players prizes for matching numbers in patterns similar to traditional bingo games. Introduced on March 6, “Bingo Plus” has more than $6.4 million in prizes remaining.
