Steven Rathjen of Foristell was filling up on gas before he and his family departed for a trip to Florida when another customer mentioned her luck with the Missouri Lottery’s “100 Times Lucky” Scratchers ticket.

“A lady was bragging on the tickets, and she talked me into buying one,” laughed Rathjen. “She was saying that she was winning and doing pretty good on them.”

Rathjen, who plays the Lottery every so often, heeded the other customer’s endorsement and purchased a $20 “100 Times Lucky” ticket while at Fast Lane, 21750 Veterans Memorial Parkway, in Foristell.

While at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on June 1, the Foristell resident recalled the moment he realized he had won a $100,000 top prize.

“You hit one of the ‘horseshoe’ symbols, and it says $4,000. So you think that’s pretty cool. Then you move on, and all these $4,000 prizes start showing up, and you have to do some math,” explained Rathjen, whose ticket contained 25 $4,000 prizes.

Rathjen claimed his prize after returning from Florida, but he had yet to identify plans for the prize.

With a top prize of $500,000, “100 Times Lucky” features three different games and 31 chances to win on one ticket. Rathjen claimed one of four $100,000 second-tier prizes in the game. Remaining prize amounts for all Scratchers games can be found at MOLottery.com.
