A St. Louis woman (63123*) recently made her regular grocery stop at Schnucks Market, 10070 Gravois Road in St. Louis, and ended up bringing home $50,000, too. Kelly Palos, 54, said while she was at Schnucks on May 18, she bought four Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets: two from the “Bonus Word Crossword” game and two that were bingo-themed.

Palos said she waited until later that evening to scratch them at home, when she discovered one of the “Bonus Word Crossword” tickets was worth the game’s top prize of $50,000.

“I told my husband,” Palos said. “We just couldn’t believe it.”

Palos said prior to this win, the most she has ever won was $500.

The couple plan to use the windfall to take a vacation, buy a new mattress and save the rest.

“We’d like to go to Mexico,” she said.

A $3 Scratchers ticket, “Bonus Word Crossword” was introduced on Dec. 2, 2016, and has more than $2 million in total prizes remaining. The crossword-inspired ticket features an additional “Bonus Words” play area which instantly awards $10 to players for matching their letters to the bonus words.
