Winning Streak Continues Following Shattered Ankle

According to Jeremy Norfleet of Harrisonville, enduring a personal injury has resulted in some extra luck. The most recent came in the form of a $100,000 Missouri Lottery top prize.

“I went down to help out with Hurricane Katrina years ago,” explained Norfleet. “I ended up shattering my ankle, and that’s when I started winning more.”

A Scratchers fan, Norfleet visited Casey’s General Store, 1801 N. Commercial St. in Harrisonville, on May 15 to play one of his favorite tickets.

“I wanted to get the ‘$50 & $100 Blowout’ game; I’ve been hitting $100 on them, but they were all out,” said Norfleet, opting instead for the “Black Ice” ticket.  “I usually don’t play that game. I ended up hitting $15, and I got three more.”

The Harrisonville resident stayed at Casey’s General Store while he played his ticket.

“I was talking to the clerk when the first ‘diamond’ symbol came up, and I said, ‘Hey, I already won something,’” recalled Norfleet. “I thought it was going to be $5 or something, and then I looked down and saw $20,000. I got excited and thought, ‘Wait, I’ve got to scratch the rest of the ticket. I doubt I’ll win anything else.’ Sure enough, there were four more ($20,000 prizes).”

While claiming his prize, the lawn care professional plans to catch up on finances and purchase a newer truck, in addition to lawn equipment.
A $5 Scratchers game introduced on March 27, “Black Ice” has more than $8.5 million in total prizes remaining. Norfleet claimed one of five $100,000 top-prizes available in the game.
