St. Louis Woman Brings Home Take Out and $50,000

Regina Rybar was picking up Chinese food on April 27 when she decided to head into the store next door to check her Powerball ticket for the April 15 drawing. That’s where she learned she had won $50,000.

“I play Powerball and Mega Millions every week,” said the St. Louis resident. “I usually keep them in my wallet until I see a scanner to check them.”

And that is exactly what she did, but things went a little differently than they had before.

“The scanner kept saying, ‘Please scan ticket again,’” said Rybar. “So I had to take it to the clerk to check it for me, and he said, ‘You are a big winner.’ My heart was racing, and I was shaking.”

Rybar rushed home to tell her husband the exciting news. And the very next day they visited the Missouri Lottery office in St. Louis to claim their prize.

“No plans yet,” said Rybar. “We will definitely be saving some, and we will be making a long list. I’m a planner.”
Rybar purchased her Powerball ticket at On the Run, 5840 S. Lindbergh, in St. Louis. The winning numbers were 5, 22, 56, 45 and 61, and the Powerball number was 13.

Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game that features jackpots starting at $40 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Research all current and past winning numbers at MOLottery.com.
