Public Education Benefits $1.8 Million from Sikeston Conveneince Store

More than $5.6 billion in funding has been generated for Missouri and public education, thanks to every single Missouri Lottery retail partner. A small group of those retailers routinely go the extra mile to sell Lottery products, further impacting various public education programs.

One of these locations is BJ’s Kwik Shop, 905 S. Main St. in Sikeston, which is being welcomed into the Lottery’s 2016 Million Dollar Club today for selling more than $1 million in product in 2016.

“For six straight years, BJ’s Kwik Shop has positioned themselves as regular members of the Million Dollar Club,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “In fact, only 14 Missouri Lottery retail locations have earned membership in the Club every year since it began in 2011, and BJ’s Kwik Shop is one of them.”

In the six year’s BJ’s Kwik Shop has been a member of the Club, they have generated more than $1.8 million in funding for public education programs, like A+ Scholarships, Special Education Excess Costs and the Virtual Schools.
“We are hosting a customer appreciation event at this location today until 1 p.m. to celebrate the store’s achievement,” said Reardon.
During fiscal year 2016, public education in Scott County and New Madrid County received more than $829,000 in proceeds from statewide Lottery sales during fiscal year 2016. A complete list of county-by-county proceeds can be found under the “Where the $ Goes” section at MOLottery.com.
