A sequence of favorable circumstances resulted in Byron Garcia-Interiano, 34, of Kansas City, Kansas, claiming a $100,000 Missouri Lottery Scratchers top prize on Feb. 14.
“I saw my boss playing a Scratchers ticket the day before, and I thought, ‘I should get one of those sometime,’” said Garcia-Interiano.
A car salesman himself, Garcia-Interiano is in the market for a newer vehicle, but he is not allowed to purchase personal vehicles from his employer per a company policy.

“It’s tax season, so I was looking at some cars the next day and stopped at QuikTrip for some food. That’s when I remembered my boss playing his ticket,” he said.
The 34-year-old, who says he rarely plays the Lottery, headed back to work after buying one “20X The Cash” ticket from QuikTrip, 201 E. 23rd St., in Independence.

“I scratched it in my car, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I brought it to my boss to look at, and he said that it looked like a winner,” said Garcia-Interiano.
Garcia-Interiano, who was planning to devote his forthcoming tax return towards a newer vehicle, now plans to dedicate his Lottery winnings to cover the purchase, in addition to paying bills.

“It doesn’t feel real. I didn’t get much sleep over the weekend,” said Garcia-Interiano.
Garcia-Interiano claimed one of seven $100,000 top prizes available in the “20X The Cash” Scratchers game. Introduced on Dec. 27, 2016, the $5 game offers more than $12.9 million in remaining prizes.
