JEFFERSON CITY MAN NETS $1,000 INSTANT WIN

A Jefferson City man made a quick $1,000 Sunday on his way to church.   Ronald Helmig, 57, said he was early for church so he decided to stop by Apache Flats Market, 5515 Highway 50 West, to buy a lottery ticket.  That ticket, “Jumbo Bucks,” proved to be worth $1,000.

Helmig said he plans to use the prize money to pay off a ring he bought for his wife, Patty, and use some of it to pay bills.

“Jumbo Bucks,” a $2 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Oct. 12, 2001.
