With Powerball, you don’t have to hit the jackpot to take home a significant prize. Players who match four white-ball numbers and the Powerball earn $50,000 – an accomplishment recently enjoyed by Florissant resident Lee Jackson. He joins a group of more than 80 Missouri Powerball players who have won the $50,000 “third-place” prize since the game’s matrix was updated in October 2015, including 14 other winners from St. Louis County.

Jackson purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at Spirits Plus, 3803 Vaile Ave. in Florissant, for the Jan. 21 drawing and claimed his prize on Jan. 31.

In FY16, players in St. Louis County won more than $121.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. An additional $29.4 million from Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county, and $14.3 million was paid to local businesses in the form of retailer incentives.

Powerball is a multi-Lottery Draw Game played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $285 million, with a cash option of $172.5 million.
